Set in the bleak forests of 18th-century Prussia, Werwulf (2025) follows a tormented soldier named Elias Roth (Alexander Skarsgård), who returns from war haunted by whispers of a beast that stalks his ancestral village. When the moon rises blood-red and the villagers begin to vanish, Elias suspects that something more than superstition is at work — something tied to his own bloodline.

As paranoia spreads, a mysterious noblewoman named Isolde (Anya Taylor-Joy) arrives, claiming to study folklore and ancient rites. Her knowledge of the occult unsettles the townsfolk, but she recognizes the signs of a curse older than the village itself — a pact between man and beast forged in desperation centuries ago. With each night, Elias feels the darkness growing inside him, his senses sharpening, his rage deepening.
Father Kruger (Mads Mikkelsen), the village priest and former inquisitor, believes Elias is the key to stopping the bloodshed but soon realizes he may also be its cause. As the walls between man and monster collapse, Elias must choose between suppressing the creature within or surrendering to its primal call — even if it means destroying the last traces of his humanity.
Directed by Robert Eggers, Werwulf is a haunting tale of transformation, isolation, and the savage nature of man. It blends psychological horror with folklore and raw human tragedy, immersing viewers in a world where faith, fear, and fate intertwine under the shadow of the eternal moon.
